SHIMLA: Chief Minister, Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, has urged Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) companies to produce electric buses tailored for the challenging hilly terrain of Himachal Pradesh.

Emphasis is placed on sufficient loading capacity and boot space, while maintaining high-quality standards.

The state plans to replace 1500 diesel buses from the Himachal Road Transport Corporation fleet with e-buses, aiming to issue tenders soon with a strict delivery timeline.

The phased introduction of electric buses aligns with the goal of making Himachal Pradesh a clean and green state by March 31, 2026.

The government aims to create strategic green corridors, reflecting proactive measures towards sustainability.

Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri and other officials were present at the meeting with OEMs.
