Homestays to Receive Water and Electricity at Commercial Rates
SHIMLA: Panchayati Raj and Rural Development Minister Aniruddh Singh announced that homestays will now be provided water and electricity at commercial rates.
This decision was shared during the District Planning Development and Twenty Point Program Progress and Review Meeting held on Friday under his chairmanship.
Singh emphasized that this was the first meeting of the new government, and detailed agendas will be prepared for future meetings to ensure comprehensive updates.
He also instructed that pending work be expedited and that block development officers promptly submit their Utilization Certificates.
The meeting reviewed past and ongoing projects and approved the budget for the first quarter of 2024-25.
It allocated funds for various programs, including Rs 3.98 crore for the State Development Plan and Rs 1.88 crore for Public Cooperation in Development.
Singh directed the Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap to issue show cause notices to absent officers and ensure that their work improves.
He also called for the Forest Department to start a nursery for Taur plants, which are used in local self-help group projects.
The cabinet sub-committee will meet on July 22 to finalize decisions on the new homestay rules and other proposals.
