Himachal Pradesh Government Invites Tenders for 11 Tourism Projects Worth Rs. 696.50 Crore
Shimla, 14th August 2024: Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced that tenders have been invited for 11 major tourism projects in Himachal Pradesh, worth Rs. 696.47 crore.
The projects, aimed at boosting the state's tourism sector, were discussed in a recent meeting chaired by CM Sukhu with Commissioner Tourism Manasi Sahay Thakur and other officials of the Tourism Department.
"Tourism is vital for our economy, supporting thousands of families. Enhancing the tourism experience and infrastructure in our state is crucial," said CM Sukhu.
The projects include the construction of a Convention Centre in Dharamshala with a budget of Rs. 161.91 crore, beautification of Palampur and Nagrota Bagwan at Rs. 95.50 crore, and the development of wellness centres in Nadaun, Banuti, Manali, and Kullu with budgets ranging from Rs. 27.76 crore to Rs. 91.42 crore.
Other initiatives include tourist facilities at Baba Balaknath Deothsidh in Hamirpur (Rs. 65.32 crore), a rafting complex in Nadaun (Rs. 64 crore), and the development of Ice Skating and Roller Skating Rinks in Dharamshala and Shimla, with budgets of Rs. 39.51 crore and Rs. 34.85 crore, respectively.
Additionally, the Naggar Castle in Kullu district will undergo restoration at a cost of Rs. 11.57 crore.
The Chief Minister urged officials to ensure the timely completion of these projects, emphasizing the state's commitment to developing Kangra as the "Tourism Capital of Himachal Pradesh."
Plans are also underway to transform Pong Dam into a world-class destination for birdwatching and water sports, and to expand Kangra Airport to attract high-end tourists, CM said.
CM Sukhu noted a significant increase in tourist numbers, with 1.13 crore visitors recorded in Himachal Pradesh by July 2024.
The meeting was attended by R.S. Bali, Vice Chairman of H.P. Tourism Development Board, Chief Parliamentary Secretary Sunder Singh Thakur, and other senior officials.
