SHIMLA: HPMC successfully procured 32,454 metric tons of apples under the Market Intervention Scheme 2023 despite heavy rainfall.
They also achieved a record of 1,288 metric tons of Apple Juice Concentrate production at their three fruit processing plants.
In the 213th Board of Directors meeting of H.P. Horticultural Produce Marketing & Processing Corporation (HPMC), chaired by Horticulture Minister Jagat Singh Negi, announced this among other things here on Tuesday.
The Minister launched HPMC's new web portal, offering online services for activities like booking CA/Cold Stores, Market Intervention Scheme (MIS), and sale of horticulture inputs.
The newly established HPMC fruit processing plant in Parala successfully conducted trials and commissioning during the current apple season, with plans to produce various apple-related products.
HPMC reported a record turnover of Rs. 120 crore for the fiscal year 2022-23 and decided to change packaging designs for its products.
In the meeting, HPMC decided to provide quality horticulture inputs to apple growers at reasonable prices, use universal cartons for apple growers, and continue trading activities in specific market yards.
Online platforms will be used to sell HPMC products, and a distribution policy was approved to expand sales channels.
The Minister emphasized strengthening HPMC's efficiency, resource utilization, and exploring sustainable business ventures for farmers' benefit.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Horticulture C. Paulrasu, Director Horticulture Sandeep Kadam, Managing Director HPMC Sudesh Kumar Mokhta, and Managing Director HP Agro Industries Corporation Reema Kashyap, among other senior officers.
