SHIMLA: Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced that HPMC has processed a record 1,545 MT of apple juice concentrate this season.
Out of this 814 MT from Parala, 653 MT from Parwanoo, and 78 MT from Jarol. Nearly 92% of apples procured have been processed due to strict standards.
Under the MIS, 29,200 MT of apples were procured—19,437 MT by HPMC and 9,764 MT by Himfed. For the first time, crate-based procurement was piloted, and operations expanded to Pangi in Chamba.
HPMC has launched an online portal to ensure real-time data and transparency in the procurement process.
The government reduced CA store rentals and lowered margins on horticulture inputs to benefit growers.
A geothermal cold store in Tapri, Kinnaur, is set to open next year. HPMC’s processing capacity has increased to 39,000 MT, with upgrades in packaging and new wine, vinegar, and pectin units boosting production.
HPMC has also expanded its retail presence, opening outlets at Delhi Metro stations and partnering with distributors nationwide.
