Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) is taking bold steps to tackle its financial woes by diversifying its project wing.
In a recent review meeting in Shimla, chaired by Managing Director Dr. Rajiv Kumar, it was decided that the corporation will start taking on deposit works from various government departments.
Dr. Kumar explained that this new strategy aims to boost HPTDC’s income and help make the corporation self-sufficient.
“By taking on renovation and other projects for different government departments, we can leverage our resources and expertise to generate additional revenue,” he said.
The meeting reviewed the progress of ongoing projects, managed by the assistant engineers in the Electrical and Civil divisions of HPTDC’s project wing.
With an annual salary bill and expenses exceeding 3 to 5 crores, HPTDC has emphasized the urgent need for this new approach.
“We’ have sent out letters to various government departments, offering our services for their upcoming projects. Our project wing is well-equipped and experienced, ready to deliver quality work,” Dr. Kumar added.
He expressed confidence that this move will not only improve the corporation’s financial health but also enhance its commercial and tourism prospects.
By taking on these new projects, HPTDC hopes to build a more self-reliant future, ensuring it can continue to promote and develop tourism in Himachal Pradesh effectively.
