Nerwa, March 6 2025: Fed up with the rising drug menace,
residents of Nerwa in Chopal subdivision have launched an all-out offensive against drug mafias. A high-level meeting, chaired by Municipal Council President Babita Tangaraik, saw traders, locals, and social groups take a hard stand against the growing drug trade.
Key Decisions:
Mass Protest Rally on March 11 – A huge anti-drug march will start from Dundi Mata Temple to the Tehsil office, where a memorandum will be submitted to the Tehsildar. Schools, colleges, and locals will join in force.
Crackdown on Cross-Border Drug Supply – Demand for a Special Task Force (STF) to monitor illegal drug smuggling from Uttarakhand.
Social Boycott of Drug Peddlers – No shop rentals, no business space for anyone linked to drugs. Landlords will be held accountable for tenants involved in drug trade.
Youth Squads to Monitor Peddlers – Special teams will track drug activity and assist in strict action.
Identification of Drug Dens – Hotspots under close watch; zero tolerance for drug havens.
A working committee with key local figures has been formed to lead the fight.
