New Delhi/ Shimla: From the historic Red Fort on India's 78th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a groundbreaking initiative to groom one lakh young leaders untainted by political lineage.
"We're breaking free from the shackles of caste and family-driven politics," Modi announced. "These youth will have the liberty to join any political party, bringing fresh energy to our democracy."
Highlighting the remarkable achievements of women, Modi stated, "From soaring in the Air Force to excelling in every sector, women epitomize the strength of Nari Shakti."
He emphasized the government's commitment by extending maternity leave from 12 to 26 weeks and empowering over 10 crore women through self-help groups, backed by ₹9 lakh crore in funding.
"When women achieve financial independence, households flourish and society transforms," he added.
Addressing the grave issue of crimes against women, the Prime Minister urged the media to "name and shame the convicted," sending a strong message that such actions won't be tolerated.
"Let the message resonate loud and clear across the country," Modi declared.
On the topic of science, technology, and skill development, Modi underlined their importance for a 'Viksit Bharat.'
"The future belongs to those who harness the power of science and technology.
Our education system must prioritize these fields to prepare our youth for the challenges ahead.
Skill development is key—it's not just about degrees, but about equipping our young minds with the tools to succeed in an evolving world," he said.
The Independence Day celebrations also honored 161 grassroots champions, including Anganwadi workers and staff from One-Stop Centres, as special guests.
Their visit to Delhi featured tours of landmarks like the Parliament and the Pradhan Mantri Sangrahalaya, underscoring the nation's gratitude for their dedication.
Echoing the Prime Minister's sentiments, Union Minister Annapurna Devi remarked,
"As we stride towards a 'Viksit Bharat,' empowering women remains central to shaping our future."
Touching upon the Jal Jeevan Mission, Modi proclaimed, "Har Ghar Nal Se Jal for a 'Behtar Kal'!"—highlighting the drive to provide safe drinking water to every household.
Concluding his address, Modi sent a clear message: "India's growth threatens no one. We are the land of Buddha; war isn't our path. Confronting challenges head-on is embedded in India's spirit!"
