Shimla, May 24, 2024 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi today addressed a massive VIjay Sankalp rally in Nahan, asserting that the scale and speed of development required by Himachal Pradesh can only be guaranteed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
"Coming to Nahan and Shimla is always special," Modi remarked, emphasizing the deep connection he feels with the city and its people. He expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming support shown to the BJP, which he believes reflects the public's faith in the party's development-centric politics.
During his speech, the Prime Minister highlighted various development projects and initiatives undertaken by the BJP-led government, underscoring their commitment to transforming Himachal Pradesh's infrastructure and economy. Modi assured the crowd that the BJP would continue to work tirelessly to bring prosperity and progress to the region.
PM Modi Slams Congress: "On One Side, Modi's Guarantee; On the Other, Congress's Model of Ruin"
HE launched a sharp attack on the Congress party. "On one side, there is Modi's guarantee, and on the other, there is Congress's model of ruin," he declared.
Modi emphasized that only the BJP can provide the speed and scale that India needs for development. Reflecting on his time in Himachal Pradesh, he mentioned how he has always considered the state his second home and fondly recalled the blessings and support from the people of Himachal.
The Prime Minister criticized Congress for ignoring the poor in the general category for 60 years, while his government introduced a 10% reservation for the economically weaker sections in the general category. He also pointed out that Congress had not granted reservation to the Hati community in the Giripar region, which his government rectified.
Modi accused Congress and the INDIA alliance of being selfish and opportunistic, citing the example of how the alliance had granted OBC status to several Muslim castes in West Bengal, thereby depriving genuine OBCs of their rights.
He highlighted the recent Kolkata High Court ruling that annulled these reservations and criticized West Bengal's Chief Minister for not accepting the court's decision.
The Prime Minister urged the people of Himachal Pradesh to bless the BJP for a third term, aiming to build a strong and developed India and Himachal.
The rally was chaired by BJP's state president Dr. Rajeev Bindal, with MP Suresh Kashyap also in attendance.
