Shimla, September 9 - Public Works, Youth Services, and Sports Minister Vikramaditya Singh conducted an inspection of the Anadale Kainchi Mod-Gawahi-Kadog link road, which suffered damage due to heavy rains. He assessed the extent of damage at various locations along the road.
In response to the crisis caused by heavy rainfall over the past two months, Minister Vikramaditya Singh expressed that the state has witnessed significant loss of life and property. Numerous roads across the state have been blocked as a result.
However, Singh noted that repair work is being carried out on an urgent basis, and approximately 80 percent of the roads have already been restored. The government is actively working to normalize the situation and provide relief and rehabilitation to affected residents.
Singh also highlighted the substantial damage to Shimla city during this rainy season, including the destruction of many old and new trees and damage to houses. To prevent unnecessary tree cutting, a Tree Authority has been established under the chairmanship of the Municipal Corporation Commissioner. Trees can only be cut with proper permission and inspection.
He emphasized the need for stricter implementation of laws related to haphazard construction to prevent future losses during disasters.
The minister expressed hope for relief from the Central Government in light of the significant losses and expects the release of the first installment soon.
Regarding the damaged Gawahi-Kadog road, an estimate of Rs 12 lakh has been prepared for repairs near Gawahi. The necessary work will be awarded within the next week, and efforts will be made to address recurrent issues on the road leading to Kadog village.
Furthermore, Vikramaditya Singh disclosed that approximately Rs 15 crore had been sanctioned for development projects in Tutu block, but the funds remain unutilized. A meeting will soon convene to review this matter, and strict instructions will be issued to Panchayats that have shown indifference in spending the allocated funds.
During the inspection, Minister Singh assured that the demands of Neri Panchayat Pradhan and the residents of the Gawahi area would be taken into consideration.
