View of Kumarsain Landslide site that killed 3 in Shimla district

Shimla - In a devastating landslide incident, three members of the family, including a child were killed in Kumarsain tehsil. Chief Minister, Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, expressed profound sorrow and extended condolences to the bereaved family.

They have been identified as three family members of Jai Chand from Madhavni. They include his son Anil and his daughter- in-law,  Kiran and Grandson Sapnil.

Theog MLA Kuldeep Rathour condoled deaths and expressed solidarity with the family members. 

The former MLA from Rakesh Singha has expressed his condolences over the death of four family members.

Meanwhile apple orchard of widow was wiped away by the landslide at Kandiyali. She said she has no support and has lost her only source of income, urging the government to compensate her. 

Immediate relief measures have been ordered by the Chief Minister, directing the district administration to assist the affected family during this irreplaceable loss.

To ensure the safety of students and staff, all government and private schools affiliated with the Himachal Pradesh School Education Board, along with government and private colleges affiliated with Himachal Pradesh University and Sardar Patel University, will remain closed for the next two days (July 10th and 11th, 2023), Sukhu said.

With the state facing heavy rainfall and adverse weather conditions, the government has alerted the concerned district administration to take necessary safety measures and raise awareness among the public. The Chief Minister urged people to avoid venturing near rivers and streams, remain vigilant, and cooperate with the district administration in following the advisories issued by authorities.

This tragic event serves as a reminder of the risks posed by natural disasters and emphasizes the need for proactive measures to ensure public safety in such situations.
