Historic Moment: Indian Railways Conducts Trial Run on World’s Highest Railway Bridge in Jammu and Kashmir today.
Srinagar: In a landmark achievement, Indian Railways has successfully conducted a trial run on the world's highest railway bridge, the Chenab Rail Bridge, situated in Jammu and Kashmir.
A train traveled at a speed of 40 km/h from Sangaldaan to Reasi, marking a significant step toward operationalizing this engineering marvel.
The Chenab Rail Bridge, a critical part of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project, stands 359 meters (1,178 feet) above the Chenab River, surpassing the height of the Eiffel Tower.
Spanning 1,315 meters (4,314 feet) across, this bridge is designed to withstand high-intensity seismic activity and strong winds, reflecting its robust engineering.
This trial run signifies a major milestone in connecting the Kashmir Valley with the rest of India through a reliable railway network, promising to enhance connectivity and boost the region's socio-economic development.
