HC directs Sardar Patel University to declare JOA(IT) recruitment result without delay
Shimla, Sept 15: The Himachal Pradesh High Court has directed Sardar Patel University, Mandi, to immediately declare the results of the Junior Office Assistant (IT) recruitment exam conducted in October 2022.
Justice Sandeep Sharma, while disposing of a petition filed by Nirmala Devi and others, observed that the state government had no role to play in the matter as the university is an autonomous body.
The court noted that despite the examination being held nearly three years ago for 25 contractual posts of JOA(IT), results had been withheld on the basis of government correspondence.
The court also pointed out that the university had issued as many as 16 communications to the state government seeking permission to declare the result but no decision was taken.
“Thousands of candidates who appeared in the test have been eagerly waiting. There is no cogent or convincing reason for withholding the result,” Justice Sharma remarked.
The recruitment process was initiated under Advertisement No. 07/2022, issued on September 7, 2022, and the exam was held on October 20, 2022, with 7,640 candidates applying.
The High Court has now ordered the university to declare the result forthwith.
