CMSukhuInspectingWideningofCircularRoadInShimla_HimbuMail

This vital project aims to address longstanding traffic congestion issues plaguing the capital city. Despite successive government efforts to widen Circular Road, which serves as the lifeline of Shimla, the problem persists due to vehicles encroaching upon the widened sections.

This encroachment nullifies the benefits of previous widening endeavors, leading to persistent traffic bottlenecks, particularly during peak hours and the bustling tourist season in summer.

The Shimla Municipal Corporation has put forward a Rs 130 crore proposal for the widening of Circular Road, signaling a renewed commitment to tackling the city's traffic woes.

However, the efficacy of this proposal remains to be seen, given the historical challenges associated with maintaining roadways. Chief Minister Sukhu emphasized the urgency of finding sustainable solutions to Shimla's traffic issues during his inspection.

He underscored the importance of coordinated efforts between government agencies, law enforcement, and the public to ensure the success of infrastructure projects aimed at improving traffic flow.

Mayor Chauhan echoed the Chief Minister's sentiments, acknowledging the need for proactive measures to prevent reoccurring congestion on Circular Road. He emphasized the importance of public awareness campaigns to discourage illegal parking and encourage responsible vehicle usage.
