The incident occurred around 10:45 AM and Police has constituted SIT to nabe the culprits, who fled the scene after the assault.

According to Police, Thakur and his son had arrived at the DBL office to address work-related issues when a heated exchange erupted. This quickly escalated into physical violence, with Thakur being targeted by a group of individuals present at the scene.

Upon receiving the distress call, the police swiftly mobilized, with the SHO Sadar leading a team to the location within 15 minutes. By the time law enforcement arrived, the assailants had fled the scene.

However, prompt action led to the apprehension of six suspects allegedly involved in the assault.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Manjeet Singh, Gaurav Kumar, Saurabh Patyal, Pradeep Kumar, Suraj alias Pintu, and Kulbhushan Thakur. All suspects hail from Bilaspur.

In response to the severity of the incident, SP Bilaspur and Dy.SP (HQ) personally visited the site and oversaw the detention of the accused at PS Sadar Bilaspur.

A case under FIR No 67/2024 dated 23.02.2024 U/S 147, 148, 149, 323 IPC has been registered against the perpetrators, with section 307 IPC being subsequently added during the ongoing investigation, said the police.

In light of the gravity of the situation, authorities have taken additional measures to ensure a thorough and impartial inquiry. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) under the supervision of Dy.SP(HQ) Bilaspur has been constituted to expedite the investigation process and deliver justice in a timely manner.
