Addressing a press conference today, Sukhu underscored the government's commitment to uplifting women and ensuring their financial independence and Congress promises to fulfill all Guarantees made to the people.

Highlighting the state's progress over the past 14 months, Sukhu said that the government has successfully tackled economic challenges, including clearing liabilities of government employees and officials amounting to Rs 70,000 crore.

Additionally, efforts were made to rebuild houses damaged by natural disasters, with over 17,000 families receiving assistance for rehabilitation, he added.

Sukhu emphasized the importance of social security for women, stating that the scheme aims to provide a monthly pension of Rs 1500 to women aged 18 to 80.

This initiative, now renamed the Indira Gandhi Pyari Behna Sukh Samman Nidhi Yojana, is expected to benefit  22 lakh women across the state, he said. 

The Chief Minister also highlighted other government initiatives aimed at rural development, such as increasing the daily wages of MNREGA workers and promoting natural farming practices.
