Harnessing the power of digitalization, 425,522 e-challans have been issued through Point of Sale (POS) machines and Android phones. Astoundingly, approximately 25% of these challans have been promptly settled through various online platforms.
Embracing innovation, the Himachal Police has acquired advanced tools such as alco sensors, body-worn cameras, and laser speed guns, which are now being effectively utilized by dedicated traffic police personnel on a daily basis. The impact has been tangible, with a significant decrease in traffic accidents and fatalities.
Looking ahead, the Himachal Pradesh Traffic Police is embarking on an ambitious pilot program in Shimla and Nurpur districts, supported by funding from the World Bank. This program aims to implement traffic rules based on global standards, employing ITMS cameras, patrol vehicles, motorcycles, and other state-of-the-art equipment.
With these strides towards a tech-savvy approach to road safety, Himachal Pradesh sets an example for the rest of the nation.
