In a tragic accident that has plunged the entire region into deep mourning ahead of the festive season, five people—including a mother and her son, alongside three women workers—lost their lives when their vehicle met with an accident near Gujandli in the Tikkar-Nawar apple belt of Shimla district.
The accident occurred on Saturday morning around 8:30 AM near a place called Panu between Gujandli and Dharoti village. According to local reports, 27-year-old Kushal, a resident of Dharoti village, was driving his vehicle carrying his 47-year-old mother, Kalpana Devi, and several Nepali laborers to harvest grass. As they navigated the treacherous turns of the hilly link road, the vehicle suddenly lost control and plunged down into a deep gorge.
Fatalities and Casualties
The impact of the crash was devastating, resulting in the instant death of five individuals at the scene:

* Kalpana Devi (47, mother)
* Nirmala (wife of Pawan)
* Meena (wife of Prem)
* Roshni (daughter of Prem)
Another Nepali laborer, Prem, sustained critical injuries in the mishap. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency first aid and was later referred to Shimla in critical condition.
Administration Responds
Local residents and administrative teams rushed to the accident site upon receiving word of the tragedy. Tikkar Tehsildar Priyanjali and Naib Tehsildar Mehar Singh Fishta confirmed the incident.
Revenue officials arrived at the scene to oversee rescue efforts, and the local administration has extended immediate financial relief of ₹15,000 each to the bereaved families.
