Mahride Panchayat Gets New Pradhan After Close Contest
CHOPAL, May 28: A closely fought Panchayat election in Gram Panchayat Mahride ended with Narayan Singh emerging victorious for the post of Pradhan by a narrow margin of nine votes.
According to the official result sheet issued by the Returning Officer, Narayan Singh secured 337 valid votes, while his nearest rival Harish Kumar polled 228 votes.
A total of 565 valid votes were cast in the Panchayat election. Three votes were declared invalid, while five voters pressed the NOTA option. Altogether, 573 votes were polled, officials said.
The result was formally declared on May 28 after completion of counting. Officials said the election witnessed enthusiastic participation from villagers and the counting process remained peaceful throughout.
