New Delhi: In a heated parliamentary session, Home Minister Amit Shah addressed concerns and criticisms raised by opposition members, including Sudhiranjan of the Congress party and National Conference leader Dr. Farooq Abdullah, following the recent Supreme Court verdict on the repeal of Article 370 and 35A in Jammu and Kashmir.

Amit Shah began by emphasizing the historical context surrounding the abrogation of Article 370, asserting that the move aimed to integrate Jammu and Kashmir into the mainstream of the country.

Shah highlighted the constitutional provisions and legal precedents supporting the government's decision and refuted claims of any wrongdoing in the process.

The Home Minister responded to queries regarding the imposition of President's Rule, citing the need for security and stability in the region.

Shah raised the temper in the House when he quoted India's first PM Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru in his bid to attribute the trouble in Jammu and Kashmir to " two mistakes that Pt Nehru made".

Shah argued that the removal of Article 370 has led to a significant decline in terrorism, emphasizing statistics showing a decrease in incidents and casualties.

He said Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) has surged from 1,00,000 crore to an impressive 2,27,927 crore, doubling employment opportunities in just five years.

The establishment of two AIIMS, IIT, and IIM highlights the state's commitment to education and healthcare, a milestone as the first state to be bestowed with two AIIMS.

Moreover, seven new medical colleges have been constructed in a span of 70 years, with 15 more added after the revocation.

Infrastructure development has seen remarkable strides, with the completion of 7570 projects under the Smart City Mission, and the construction of 24,000 houses in five years through the Prime Minister's Housing Scheme.

The Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana has connected 8000 kilometers per year, a significant increase from the previous 158 kilometers, benefiting millions.

Healthcare has seen vast improvements, with the addition of 367 PG seats and a substantial increase in Jan Aushadhi centers, providing affordable medicines. The Modi government's efforts have led to a notable reduction in the infant mortality rate from 22 to 14.30.

The implementation of various schemes has empowered the youth, with sports participation skyrocketing from 2,00,000 to an impressive 60,00,000 beneficiaries.

The prevailing peace post-Article 370 has fostered a conducive environment for development, evident in the commendable achievements witnessed across Jammu and Kashmir.

Critics of the President's rule are urged to acknowledge the tangible progress and development in the region, attributing much of the success to the reduction in terrorism, which has created a conducive environment for growth and prosperity.

Amit Shah also addressed the economic and developmental aspects, pointing out positive changes in the region post the abrogation. He highlighted improvements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and job opportunities.

The Home Minister presented figures and facts to support his claims, asserting that the Narendra Modi government's actions have resulted in transformative changes in Jammu and Kashmir.

During the debate, opposition members, particularly Sudhiranjan Chaudhary of Congress and Dr. Farooq Abdullah(NC), expressed their concerns about the constitutional and legal aspects of the abrogation.

Dr. Abdullah raised questions about the promises made during the independence movement and sought clarification on the government's commitment to safeguarding the rights of the people in Jammu and Kashmir.

The session also witnessed a reference to the Supreme Court verdict on the repeal, with members demanding a thorough discussion on the legal and constitutional implications.

The opposition stressed the need for a careful examination of the implications on the region's special status and the welfare of its residents.

As the debate unfolded, Amit Shah continued to provide detailed responses, defending the government's actions and asserting that the abrogation of Article 370 was a necessary step for the region's development and integration into the rest of the country.

The parliamentary discussion is expected to continue as members from both sides engage in a rigorous exchange of views on the constitutional, legal, and socio-economic aspects of the repeal of Article 370 and 35A in Jammu and Kashmir.
