Shimla/Chamba, August 6: A mild earthquake measuring 3.1 on the Richter scale struck Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh shortly after midnight on Thursday. The tremor was recorded at 12:17:54 AM IST at a depth of 10 kilometres, according to seismic data.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage to property. However, the tremor was felt in parts of Chamba, prompting some residents to step out of their homes as a precaution.
Authorities are monitoring the situation, and residents have been advised to remain calm while following safety protocols in the event of aftershocks.
The State Emergency Operations Centre has asked people to report any emergency through the 1070 or 1077 helpline numbers.
