SHIMLA/CHAMBA: A mild earthquake measuring 3.0 on the Richter scale shook parts of Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday morning, with its epicentre located in Chamba district.

The tremor was recorded at 7:55 AM IST, prompting residents in several areas to briefly move outdoors as a precaution.

According to seismic monitoring agencies, the earthquake was of low intensity and no loss of life or damage to property was reported immediately after the tremor.

Authorities said they are monitoring the situation and have not received reports of any untoward incident.

Himachal Pradesh falls in a high seismic risk zone, making earthquakes a recurring phenomenon, particularly in districts such as Chamba, Kangra, Kullu and Mandi.

Experts advise residents to remain alert and follow earthquake safety protocols instead of panicking during such events.

The latest tremor serves as a reminder of the need for earthquake preparedness in the hill state.

Disaster management authorities have urged people to stay informed through official channels and be ready to respond in case of stronger aftershocks or future seismic activity.
