Puducherry Trends Signal Rangasamy’s Return, BJP Set to Play Kingmaker Again

Puducherry, May 4: Trends and early results are pointing in one clear direction—N. Rangasamy is on course to retain power, with the All India N.R. Congress once again emerging as the single largest force, backed by its ally Bharatiya Janata Party.

As per the latest numbers, AINRC has won 8 seats and is leading in 1 (total 9), while BJP has secured 1 seat and is leading in another. Together, the alliance appears comfortably placed to cross the majority mark.

In contrast, the Indian National Congress is reduced to just 1 seat, reflecting a sharp decline. Among regional players, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam have managed one seat each, while Latchiya Jananayaka Katchi is leading in one. Independents are also in the mix, with 1 win and leads in 2 seats, hinting at a fragmented opposition space.

What the Numbers Reveal
The contest hasn’t been entirely one-sided, but the balance of power is clearly tilting back towards Rangasamy. The opposition looks scattered and ineffective, with Congress failing to convert its presence into meaningful gains.

If these trends hold, Rangasamy is set to return as Chief Minister—but this time, firmly dependent on alliance arithmetic rather than a standalone mandate.
