Runners Get a Thrill of the Thriving Shimla- Mashobra Marathon...
SHIMLA, MAY 10: Hundreds of runners from across the country tested their endurance amid the cool Himalayan breeze as Run and Thrive Fitness successfully organized the Shimla Mashobra Marathon at HIPA Fairlawns, Dhalli on Sunday.
Around 200 athletes participated in the scenic hill marathon, which was organized by Kuldeep Sandhu and took runners through the challenging yet picturesque Mashobra hills. The route stretched from HIPA to Baikhalti, offering participants a demanding run through winding mountain roads and breathtaking Himalayan landscapes.
The marathon featured three categories — Full Marathon (42 KM), Half Marathon, and 10 KM Run — attracting fitness enthusiasts and professional runners from different states.
Dr. Manish Gupta, Head of the Cancer Hospital at Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital, attended the event as the chief guest and lauded the organizers for promoting fitness and healthy living through adventure sports in the hills.
In the 42 KM Marathon (Male Category), Krishan Raj Rokaya clinched the top position with an impressive timing of 2:58:11. In the women’s category, Navanya Sharma emerged victorious after completing the marathon in 5:37:54.
In the Half Marathon (Male Category), Jatin secured first place with a strong performance.
The event received support from SJVN Limited, Dr. Manmohan Singh Himachal Pradesh Institute of Public Administration, SOTTO Himachal Pradesh, SPARSH HOSPITAL, Jasvinder Construction, Bahl Production, Sajawat Construction, Max Protein, and BONN.
Participants described the marathon as a unique blend of endurance, adventure, and natural beauty, with the steep climbs and mountain terrain making it one of the tougher racing experiences in North India.
