Shimla, March 19: Reaffirming its commitment towards health and social welfare, Lions Club Shimla organized a "Blood Donation and Blood Test Camp" at Chail-Koti College on Tuesday.
The camp witnessed overwhelming participation from students and staff, reflecting a strong sense of social responsibility.
Lion Man Mohan Verma, President of Lions Club Shimla, informed that a medical team from Deen Dayal Upadhyay Zonal Hospital (DDUZH), led by Dr. Ganga Sharma, collected 30 units of blood donated by college students and staff.
"This selfless act will help meet the rising demand for blood in the region and support patients in dire need of transfusions," he added.
In addition to blood donation, the club also conducted free blood tests in collaboration with BVP Clinical Laboratory, Shimla.
Tests like blood sugar (diabetes), haemoglobin, postprandial (PP), and complete blood count (CVC) were done, benefiting 105 people. These tests helped participants monitor their health and assess key organ functions.
Highlighting another crucial health issue, an awareness program on organ donation was also organized in association with doctors from IGMC Shimla.
The doctors sensitized the audience about the urgent need for organ donors in India and how one noble decision could give a new lease of life to many. "Becoming an organ donor is the greatest gift you can give — the gift of life," the speakers said.
Lions Club Shimla was represented by its President Lion Man Mohan Verma, Lion Sufal Sood (Project Chairperson), Lion M.K. Sharma (Secretary), Lion J.P. Sharma, and Lion Daleep Kumar. College Principal Dr. Deep Shikha, faculty members, and the local public also attended the camp.
The Lions Club pledged to continue such initiatives to promote health, wellness, and social upliftment in the region.
