AMB-INDORA: In a boost to rail connectivity in Himachal Pradesh, former Union Minister and Hamirpur MP Anurag Singh Thakur, along with Kutlehar MLA Satpal Singh Satti, on Saturday flagged off the newly introduced Gurumukhi Superfast Express from Amb-Indaura railway station to Kolkata.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by railway officials and other dignitaries, marking what leaders described as a landmark day in strengthening Himachal Pradesh’s rail network.

Speaking on the occasion, Anurag Thakur said the new train service is a major gift from the Narendra Modi-led government to the people of Himachal Pradesh. He said the direct rail link between Amb-Indaura and Kolkata would greatly benefit traders, students, job seekers and general passengers by providing improved connectivity to eastern India.

“Today is an extremely important day for rail connectivity in Devbhoomi Himachal. The launch of the Gurumukhi Superfast Express will open new avenues for trade, education and employment while making travel more convenient for thousands of passengers,” Thakur said.

He added that the new rail service would accelerate the economic and social development of the region and emerge as a milestone in the state's transportation infrastructure.

Expressing gratitude, Thakur thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for extending the railway network and improving connectivity in Himachal Pradesh.

Local residents and railway passengers welcomed the new service, saying it would provide a faster and more convenient travel option between Himachal Pradesh and eastern India while strengthening economic ties between the two regions.
