Priyanka Gandhi and CM Sukhu Blast BJP's 'Dirty Money Politics... Modi favored billionaires and waived their Rs 16 lakh crores loan... but farmers are perishing...
Chambi/Shahpur: Campaigning for Congress candidate Anand Sharma in Kangra, Priyanka Gandhi tore into PM Modi and the BJP, accusing them of using money to destabilize Himachal Pradesh’s government.
“Modi didn’t visit Himachal during disasters and didn’t give a penny in aid, yet he’s all about grabbing power by any means,” she said to a charged crowd.
Priyanka blasted Modi’s policies over the past decade, claiming they favor billionaires over the common people.
“Modi’s government wrote off Rs 16 lakh crore in loans for industrialists while claiming they can’t fund old pensions. Apple growers are suffering because Modi handed cold storage control to his billionaire friends,” she said, also criticizing the reduction in import duty on apples.
She didn’t spare the Agniveer Yojana either, calling it a raw deal for the youth. “Under Agniveer, kids are left jobless after four years with no pension or support if they’re martyred. We’ll repeal this scheme,” Priyanka promised.
Outlining Congress's plans if elected, she promised Rs 8500 monthly for women, filling 30 lakh government posts, doubling the pay for Anganwadi and Asha workers, guaranteeing minimum support prices for farmers, and abolishing GST on farm equipment. “We’ll offer Rs 25 lakh in free health insurance and bring MNREGA to urban areas,” she added.
Hitting back at BJP's “double engine” claim, Priyanka said Congress would focus on “double service.”
She accused the BJP of becoming the richest party through donations and misuse of government agencies like ED and CBI.
“Service is our tradition. Vote for Congress and trust Anand Sharma to deliver,” she urged.
Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu echoed Priyanka's sentiments and emphasized the historic significance of the upcoming election.
“Six Congress MLAs were sold to the BJP. This election is a chance to stand against these unethical practices,” Sukhu said, promising a sweeping victory for Congress in the upcoming elections.
Sukhu highlighted Congress's achievements, including reinstating old pensions for government employees and creating 22,000 government jobs.
“The BJP stalled recruitment with legal tricks. We cleared the way for our youth,” he said.
Sukhu also boasted about welfare schemes for women, orphans, and the elderly, and slammed the BJP for trying to block these initiatives.
“By curbing corruption inherited from the BJP, we've generated an additional Rs 2200 crore for welfare schemes,” he said.
