SHIMLA: Ahead of BJP National President and Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda's visit to his home state, Himachal Pradesh, this week, the Centre has approved the release of ₹189.20 crore as a share from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) and an advance from the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF).

This move comes as a direct punch to the Sukhu government, which has been blaming the Centre for not releasing enough funds in the wake of natural calamities.

BJP state president Dr. Rajeev Bindal announced that Nadda will be on a two-day visit to Himachal Pradesh on October 4 and 5.

During his stay, Nadda will offer prayers at Dhoulra Mata Temple as part of his Navratri tradition. On October 4, he will be welcomed by the people of Bilaspur, followed by a review of developmental activities at AIIMS and a meeting with officials.

On October 5, Nadda will inaugurate the newly built BJP district office in Sirmaur and address the public. He will also unveil the inauguration plaque for the BJP office in Dehra.

According to the BJP spokesperson, "The Modi government stands shoulder to shoulder with states hit by natural disasters, including Himachal. The funds will help mitigate the hardships faced by people after recent floods and landslides."

The spokesperson also pointed out that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership and Union Home Minister Amit Shah's guidance, over ₹14,958 crore has already been distributed to 21 states this year, emphasizing that the BJP government is committed to supporting states during times of need.

In addition to Himachal Pradesh, major flood-hit states like Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, and Assam have also received significant central assistance.

"This demonstrates the government's proactive approach, with IMCTs (Inter-Ministerial Central Teams) already assessing damages across flood-affected states," the spokesperson added.

With Nadda's visit on the horizon, the Sukhu government is bound to face tougher questions regarding the handling of state finances.

The political stage is heating up as the Centre’s timely aid adds weight to the BJP’s narrative ahead of upcoming challenges for the Congress-led Himachal government.
