SHIMLA- Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said the new tech courses will be started in various technical institutions in the state starting from August 2023.
But the big question is: Have all the tech institutions have qualified staff to teach these new courses like AI and Internet of Things etc?
During a review meeting of technical institutions on Saturday evening, the Chief Minister said the state government has taken the decisive step of introducing a range of courses across different institutions in the upcoming academic session.
Sukhu announced that the Government Hydro Engineering College Bilaspur will offer a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) program in Computer Science and Engineering with a specialization in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science.
This course has been approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and HPTU, ensuring its adherence to high educational standards.
Furthermore, the Government Polytechnic institutions in Rohru and Chamba will now provide specialized courses in Computer Engineering and Internet of Things, and Mechatronics Engineering, respectively.
These courses have also received approval from the AICTE and HP Takniki Shiksha Board Dharamshala.
The Chief Minister mentioned that in line with industry demands, additional courses will be introduced in 17 Industrial Training Institutes in the state.
These include Mechanic Electric Vehicle, Technician Mechatronics, Fibre to Home Technician, Solar Technician (Electric), Internet of Things Technician, and Maintenance Mechanic (Chemical Plant). These diverse offerings cater to various technological sectors and enable students to develop specialized skills.
Through such partnerships, the government aims to bridge the gap between academia and industry, equipping students with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in their careers.
The government will deploy qualified staff members who are undergoing specialized training to ensure the highest quality of education.
By equipping students with the skills required in emerging fields, the government envisions a brighter future where the youth of the state can actively contribute to the growth and development of the nation."
