GUWAHATI: As many as 150 youth from G20 countries got a platform to get new ideas for a progressive future at a three-day long First Youth 20 Inception meet held at Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati.
‘Youth dialogue’ was held by Anurag Thakur, Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports who also launched white paper on various themes of the meet.
In his address, Anurag Singh Thakur said, “Digital transformation, coupled with the energy of youth, is propelling India towards becoming a superpower".
Thakur said youth is the engine which drives the nation towards success. "Innovation, entrepreneurship will be the corner stone for the youth-led development anywhere in the world", he added.
He said this is an era of opportunity for the youth and it must be leveraged to address the global challenges.
The Y20 Meet would exemplify the youth-centric efforts and showcase policy measures ideated by the youth.”
He said the G20 presidency of India will work to promote the sense of global unity and therefore out moto ‘One Earth, One Family, One Future.’
"The Y20 forum will discuss the modalities and mechanism for developing well-crafted policy recommendations by the youth representatives".
These will be relevant to G20 and Y20 priority agenda of Global Health Architecture, Digital Transformation and Sustainable Energy Transition.”
The Y20 Meet also hosted panel discussion on Peace-building and Reconciliation: Ushering in an Era of No War, participated by eminent speakers and leaders.
The meet took to flying start in the presence of Meeta Rajivlochan, Secretary, Ministry of Youth Affairs, Govt. of India along with B Narayanan, Director General, NE Zone, Ministry of I & B, Govt. of India, Sh. Kalyan Chakravarthy, Principal Secretary, Government of Assam and Prof Parameswar K Iyer, Officiating Director, IIT Guwahati.
In her address Meeta Rajivlochan highlighted the five themes of Y20 Meet. These include Future of Work: Industry 4.0, Innovation & 21st Century skills.
Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction: Making Sustainability a way of life.
Peacebuilding and Reconciliation: Ushering in an era of No War.
Shared Future: Youth in Democracy and Governance.
Health, Wellbeing & Sports: Agenda for Youth.
The Panel comprised Gen VK Singh (Retd), MoS, Govt. of India; Mr. Tejasvi Surya, MP; Lt. Gen. Satish Dua (Retd), Indian Army; Mr. Gyanendra Pratap Singh, IPS, DGP, Govt. of Assam; Mr. Hiren Chandra Nath, ADGP(STF/SB), Assam; Mr. Bipul Kalita, surrendered Insurgent and Mr. Binal Warry, surrendered Insurgent.
Prof. Parameswar K Iyer, Officiating Director, IIT Guwahati said, “We are proud to host the Technical sessions, deliberations and youth dialogue of the Y20 Inception Meet.
IIT Guwahati is enthusiastically making its contribution in frontier technological developments for a sustainable future and for the betterment of public at large.”
The Youth20 Inception meeting also provided an opportunity for innovators and start-up companies of IIT Guwahati and the incubation hubs of the region to showcase their products.
These products were in areas of healthcare, renewable energy, 3D printing, EV, sustainable materials, plant tissue culture, food technologies and green hydrogen production.
