Shimla - In a display of solidarity and humane gesture, the Assam BJP government, led by Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma and Uttarakhand Government led by Pushkar Singh Dhami have extended a helping hand to Himachal Pradesh by donating a substantial sum of Rs. 10 crore and Rs 5 Crore to the Aapda Rahat Kosh-2023.

This contribution comes at a crucial time as Himachal Pradesh is recovering from the heavy rains, floods, and landslides during the recent monsoon season.

Expressing his gratitude to Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Pushkar Singh Dhami Assam CM Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma,  Sukhu said that such generous contributions go a long way in providing help to the disaster affected people.

He said that state has suffered a loss of more than Rs. 12,000 crore due to heavy rains and now was carrying out relief and rehabilitation works on war footing and the donations by various states, voluntary organisations and the people of the state will certainly support the cause of the government in its initiatives of rehabilitating the affected.   

While Assam and Uttarakhand have come forward, but the immediate nighbours like Punjab, Delhi  have yet to show their benevolence towards flood-hit People of Himachal.   

CM underscored the significance of this financial aid, emphasizing its role in assisting the relief efforts directed towards the communities hardest hit by the natural disasters.

The generous donation was officially handed over to Chief Minister Sukhu by Assam's Forest Minister, Chander Mohan Patowari, during a ceremony held in Shimla.

"This contribution from Assam will undoubtedly make a significant impact in alleviating the suffering of affected families in Himachal Pradesh," stated Chief Minister Sukhu, highlighting the critical need for such support during these challenging times.

Sukhu went on to extend his heartfelt thanks to Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma for extending assistance when Himachal Pradesh was still recovering from the devastation caused by the monsoon disasters.

This gesture of solidarity transcends political differences and serves as a reminder of the nation's unity in times of crisis.

The Assam government's generous contribution to the Aapda Rahat Kosh-2023 underscores the spirit of cooperation and empathy, demonstrating that even in the face of political diversity, the welfare of the people remains a shared priority.

As Himachal Pradesh continues its recovery efforts, the support from Assam is poised to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected, fostering a sense of unity and resilience across state boundaries.
