Shimla/Solan: Haryana BJP President Mohan Lal Badoli and singer-composer Rocky Mittal have been booked in a rape case filed by a Haryana woman at Kasauli police station in Solan district, Himachal Pradesh.
The woman alleged that 18 months ago, Badoli and Mittal lured her to a Kasauli hotel under the pretense of helping her secure a government job and boosting her acting career. She claims she was forcibly intoxicated and sexually assaulted by the duo.
According to the complainant, both men also threatened her life to keep her silent. The delay in filing the complaint has raised questions about the intention behind the timing.
The Superintendent of Police confirmed the FIR's registration, stating that investigations are underway.
The allegations have sparked a political storm in Haryana and Himachal Pradesh. Opposition parties are demanding a thorough probe and accountability, while the BJP faces mounting pressure to address the serious charges against its state leader.
Mohan Lal Badoli's Background
Badoli, 61, became Haryana BJP President in July last year after serving as a first-time legislator and having a background with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). He unsuccessfully contested the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from Sonipat, losing to Congress candidate Satpal Brahamchari by over 21,000 votes.
Rocky Mittal's Controversial Journey
Rocky Mittal, also known as Jai Bhagwan Mittal, is a Haryanvi singer-composer who gained fame for composing over 200 songs praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other BJP leaders. However, he publicly severed ties with the BJP in August 2024, alleging mistreatment and wrongful imprisonment. Since then, he has supported the Congress, even apologizing through songs to leaders he previously criticized.
The case is likely to have significant political repercussions, with both state BJP and Congress watching the developments closely.
