Himachal Cabinet Clears Budget Session, Maternity Leave, and New Appointments
Shimla – The Himachal Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, has decided to hold the budget session of the Vidhan Sabha from March 10 to March 28, 2025.
Main Decisions:
Maternity Leave: Female government employees will now get 60-day special maternity leave in case of stillbirth or infant death soon after birth.
Job Appointments: Results for 699 posts across six post codes will be declared, excluding tainted posts. These include Market Supervisor, Fireman, Drawing Master, Clerks (HP Secretariat), Lineman, and Steno-Typist.
Police and Fire Services:
Sanjauli Police Chowki will be upgraded to a Police Station, with 20 new posts.
A new Fire Post at Nerwa (Shimla) will be opened, creating 17 new posts.
Baghi Police Post (Kotkhai) will get six additional posts.
All 135 police stations will be categorized into six types based on population, crime rate, traffic, inter-state borders, and tourism flow.
Infrastructure Development:
New Jal Shakti Divisions will be set up in Kangra and Jagatkhana (Bilaspur).
A new Sub Tehsil at Loharghat (Solan) will be created.
Namhol Sub Tehsil (Bilaspur) will be reorganized with eight patwar circles from Sadar Tehsil.
Education and Medical Expansion:
H.P. Govt. Dental College (Shimla) will upgrade 16 Assistant Professors to Associate Professors.
New B.Tech Courses:
AI & Data Science and Computer Science at Rajiv Gandhi Govt. Engineering College, Nagrota Bagwan (Kangra).
Civil Engineering at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Govt. Institute of Engineering & Technology, Pragatinagar (Shimla).
New Diploma Course: AI & Machine Learning at Govt. Polytechnic, Sundernagar (Mandi).
A Nuclear Medicine Department will be set up at Lal Bahadur Shastri Medical College, Nerchowk (Mandi), with multiple new posts.
Assistant Professor post to be filled at Dr. Y.S. Parmar Medical College, Nahan (Sirmaur).
Allopathic doctors will now get full salary during study leave, whether in India or abroad.
Public Services:
A new Primary Health Centre will be opened at Basheel (Solan).
Tehsildar posts (9) will be created in the Revenue Department.
Treasury Officers (3) will be recruited in the Treasury, Accounts & Lotteries Department.
Transport & Revenue:
FASTag will be introduced at seven major toll barriers in a phased manner.
Entry tax auction-cum-tender process for 2025-26 is expected to generate an additional ₹11.56 crore.
