Shimla - Pradesh Congress President and Member of Parliament Pratibha Singh has directed the NHPC to expedite the construction of the 500-megawatt Dugar Hydroelectric Project in the Chandrabhaga river basin under the Mandi parliamentary constituency.
Singh stated that she will engage with NHPC officials and the state government to accelerate the project, emphasizing its significance in addressing both electricity shortages in the Pangi Valley and harnessing the water resources of the Chandrabhaga River.
Singh highlighted the potential positive impact of the Dugar Hydroelectric Project, stating that it would not only alleviate electricity issues in the Pangi Valley but also contribute to the overall economic strength of the state. Emphasizing the project's utility in power generation, she expressed optimism about its role in boosting the economy and providing employment opportunities for the youth in the region.
Concerned about the slow pace of construction, Singh urged NHPC to expedite the project and called on the state government to streamline policies and negotiations related to hydroelectric projects in the region.
She underscored the need for a simplified approach to facilitate the completion of water and electricity projects in the state.
Singh appealed to the state government to promptly address all pending matters related to hydroelectric projects, urging swift resolutions to further the development of such initiatives in the region.
