SHIMLA- The State Tax and Excise Department have made a significant seizure of illegal liquor recently. Excise Commissioner Yunus announced that in the past few days, a total of 8 lakh milliliters of illegal English and country liquor were confiscated in Kullu, Mandi, Baddi, Solan, and Nurpur districts.
The Excise Department, in collaboration with the police district in Nurpur, conducted joint raids in several areas, including Ulehariyan Khanpur, Basantpur, Gagwal, Barota, and Thakurdwara. During these operations, they seized and destroyed 30,000 liters of raw liquor (Lahan). In addition, 10 liters of Lahan were confiscated from Bhulpur Ulehariyan, and a case was registered against the accused under the Himachal Pradesh Excise Act 2011 at Thakurdwara Police Station.
Based on specific information, an Assistant Commissioner in Kullu inspected a suspicious location on the Banogi-Kullu Beasar Road.
There, they seized a total of 588 bottles of illegal English liquor and 369 bottles of beer that were intended for sale only in Punjab. A case has been registered at Kullu Police Station under section 39. Furthermore, 148 bottles have been seized in other districts, and cases have been filed under the Excise Act of 2011.
The Excise Commissioner has instructed other districts to take strict action against the sale of illegal liquor. The Excise Department remains committed to combating the production and trade of illegal liquor and will continue taking such actions in the future. Departmental officers have been ordered to take strict measures against individuals involved in illegal activities under the Excise Act.
