Shimla: PWD Minister, Vikramaditya Singh, the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the 45th Gandhi Jayanti three-day Panchayat level sports competition said the state government is now giving Rs 7 Lakh to rebuild damaged house by amending the relief Manual. 

During his speech, Singh highlighted the development brought by former Chief Minister Raja Virbhadra Singh to the region and emphasized the government's commitment to fulfilling the people's expectations.

The event was organized by Nav Yuvak Mandal Sunda at Chirgaon Sports Ground in Chirgaon, Rohru sub-division

Singh mentioned the significant economic losses of around Rs 12,000 crores due to disasters in Himachal Pradesh, including damage to homes, roads, and gardens. He noted that despite seeking central government cooperation, there was limited assistance.

However, the Himachal Pradesh government announced an economic package of Rs 4,500 crores for disaster-affected families. Additionally, they amended the disaster relief manual, offering Rs 7 lakh for damaged houses, Rs 1.5 lakh for partially damaged houses, and Rs 50 thousand for damaged cowsheds.

Singh highlighted the inclusion of six roads in the area under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, with Rs 2,600 crores allocated to the state. Rs 4 crore was released for restoring roads in Rohru, benefiting apple orchardists.

He assured that the situation was improving after the disaster, and development efforts would be intensified across the state. Singh announced plans to establish a new Public Works Board in Chirgaon.

The Public Works Minister also pledged Rs 5 lakh for Sundha Sports Ground and promised to pave the vital Rohru-Chirgaon-Dhamadri road.

He encouraged the youth to stay away from drugs and participate in sports competitions.

At the event, Karasa Mahadev, the winner of the volleyball competition, and the Dhaadi team, the runner-up, were honored.

Before the program, Singh and Chief Parliamentary Secretary Mohan Lal Brakta paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri on their birth anniversary.

Mohan Lal Brakta, Chief Parliamentary Secretary, praised the swift restoration of roads in the area after the disaster, facilitating apple transportation to markets. He noted that nearly all roads in the area had been restored.
