SHIMLA: The Himachal Pradesh Power Engineers Association had a meeting to discuss the power sector in the state. They decided that they will oppose any splitting up of the sector now or in the future.
Association President Lokesh Thakur and general secretary Tanuj Gupta stated that they strongly opposed the dissolution of HPSEB in 2010, which helped keep it intact.
This has benefited the people with affordable electricity, and they want to continue this in the future.
They believe that if the transmission or generation assets are separated, the people will have to pay more for electricity and it will threaten HPSEBL's existence.
Some people are trying to dissolve HPSEBL for their own benefit, but the association will strongly oppose them.
They also discussed the delay in implementing OPS in HPSEBL.
They welcomed another state's decision to implement OPS but expressed concern about the delay in HPSEBL.
If OPS isn't implemented soon, the association will support the strike demonstration by the HPSEBL Employees Union on May 25th.
