Shimla: State Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu approved a monthly pension of Rs. 1500 to eligible women aged between 18 to 59 years under the "Indira Gandhi Pyari Behna Sukh Samman Nidhi" scheme, fulfilling a promise made by the Congress Party during the 2022 Assembly elections.
Furthermore, the Cabinet addressed the concerns of SMC (School Management Committee) teachers and computer teachers.
It decided to recruit 2401 SMC teachers on a contract basis, with the possibility of regularization later, and approved filling 985 lecturer positions in Computer Science.
The Cabinet also expressed solidarity with Chief Minister Sukhu and condemned what it deemed as attempts by the central government to undermine the democratically elected state government.
It vowed to counter any propaganda and affirmed its commitment to completing its full term.
Additionally, the Cabinet urged the central government to release Rs. 9043 crore for Post-Disaster Need Assessment (PDNA) without delay.
Other decisions included rationalizing the engineering staff of the Forest Department, creating a Sub Tehsil in Bhadoli, opening health centers in Darlaghat and Pihari, declaring certain fairs as district-level events, and making staffing adjustments in medical and public works departments.
These decisions mark efforts by the state government to address various social, educational, and infrastructural needs while asserting its autonomy and commitment to serving the people of Himachal Pradesh.
