Shimla: Hanuman Temple at Jakhu now boasts Himachal's first outdoor escalators, inaugurated by Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu here today.
Costing Rs. 7.94 crore and installed by Schindler India, these escalators, situated at 2455 meters above sea level, can carry 6000 people per hour.
The escalators, equipped with safety features and adorned with Ramayana-themed paintings, aim to ease access for pilgrims visiting the temple from the parking lot.
Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh, and other dignitaries attended the inauguration and termed it a stepping stone for providing easy access to the steep Jakhu Temple.
