SHIMLA/ NEW DELHI: Nitin Gadkari, the Union Road Transport and National Highways Minister, today has made headlines with a move that could redefine the political narrative as India  inches towards the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

During a recent visit to Gaurikund, Gadkari, who hails from Nagpur, the headquarters of the RSS, a right-wing organization closely associated with the BJP, unveiled a campaign strategy that defies conventional wisdom.

In a surprising twist, Gadkari boldly declared, "I will not resort to putting up posters or dispensing money, nor will I engage in the use of Desi or Angrezi (referring to liquor) for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections." This unconventional approach immediately captured the public's attention, hinting at a reformist shift in his political career.

This has come as much needed mantra for the the civil society groups including the Association of Democratic Reforms(ADR), which  has been championing the electoral reforms in India, riding the Indian polity from the abuse of the money muscle power in Electioneering in the country.

But it was not just his campaign strategy that turned heads. Gadkari revealed a progressive and inclusive vision for India's future, emphasizing his commitment to promoting education and empowerment among the Muslim youth.

"Boys and girls from the Muslim community should dream of becoming engineers or doctors; they should have the freedom to pursue any aspirations they desire without imposed restrictions," he asserted.

Addressing concerns about religious attire, Gadkari advocated for personal choice and the eradication of stereotypes. "A girl's attire should never hinder her ambitions or access to opportunities," he emphasized.

To demonstrate his commitment, Gadkari highlighted his significant contribution to Anjuman Islam College in Nagpur, where over 10,000 boys and girls from the Muslim community have received education, breaking down barriers and fostering a more inclusive society.

In response to allegations that the BJP is perceived as a threat to the Muslim community, Gadkari refuted such claims, emphasizing his dedication to unity and diversity.

He urged Muslims not to be swayed by divisive rhetoric, stating, "We believe in the collective strength of our diverse society, and it is our duty to ensure that every individual, regardless of their background, can contribute to our nation's progress."

Nitin Gadkari's progressive and reformist stance has set a new trend in Indian politics, injecting a sense of optimism and unity that transcends traditional political boundaries.

As the nation gears up for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, all eyes are on how this bold vision will shape the political landscape.

One thing is clear: Gadkari has firmly positioned the ideals of empowerment and unity at the forefront of the national narrative, leaving the question of whether other parties will heed his call for a more inclusive and forward-thinking and poster and money-free election?

Will it be an Jumla or a real thing, only time will tell this.
