NEW DELHI: In a poignant address to Members of Parliament (MPs) of both houses of Parliament, gathered in the Central Hall, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said that new Indian today is at a threshold of becoming world's top three economy. He put forth a proposal to rename the old Parliament House as the "Savindhan Bhawan”.
This suggestion is intended to pay tribute to its predecessors and its rich heritage, historical importance of this iconic structure, which has played a pivotal role in shaping India's destiny.
During his address, that went live on various social media platforms as well, PM Modi, who is also leader of Parliament, asserted that New India underscored the old Parliament House's historical significance as the very place where the Constituent Assembly of India convened to draft the nation's revered Constitution.
He emphasized the crucial role played by Parliament over the years, highlighting the passage of more than 4,000 laws, including landmark decisions such as the abrogation of Article 370, addressing the issue of triple talaq, and advocating for transgender rights and Dibyang Jan.
