Shimla, December 19:  The Defenders of Human Rights here today  have urged the United Nations to constitute a high-level commission to investigate alleged human rights violations against Hindu and Buddhist minorities in Bangladesh and make its findings public.

They demand that the Norwegian Committee should revoke Nobel Peace Prize awarded to Muhammad Yunus as he has failed to protect minorities in Bangladesh under his rule.

Submitting a memorandum to Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, the delegation demanded swift international action to address incidents of murder, rape, arson, and temple destruction targeting these communities.

The memorandum, addressed to the UN Secretary-General, also sought global condemnation of these atrocities.

Governor Shukla assured the delegation of his support, stating, “I will forward this memorandum to the President of India for necessary action.”

The memorandum also called on the UN to pressure the Bangladesh government to ensure the safety of minority communities, restore their societal status, and rebuild destroyed temples.

An extraordinary demand was made for the Norwegian Nobel Committee to revoke the Nobel Peace Prize awarded to Muhammad Yunus, accusing him of remaining silent on the plight of minorities in Bangladesh.

The delegation, led by Defenders of Human Rights, included prominent figures such as Swami Tanmahima Nand, Secretary of Ram Krishna Mission Shimla; Prof. Vir Singh Rangra, RSS Prant Sangh Chalak; Rajendra Bhardwaj, VHP State Treasurer; BM Nainta, Vice Chairman of Defenders of Human Rights; and Prof. Ajai Srivastava, Chairman of Umang Foundation.

Other members included Mrs. Kamlesh Sharma, Prant Sanchalika of Rashtra Sevika Samiti; Dr. Rakesh Sharma, ABVP State President; Madan Thakur, Co-Convener of Devbhumi Sangharsh Samiti; Dr. Neelam Thakur, State Secretary of Bhartiya Kisan Sangh; and Mukul Sood from Sood Sabha.

The memorandum reflected growing concerns about the global community’s inaction, urging the UN to take decisive steps to protect the rights and dignity of minorities in Bangladesh and ensure justice for the victims.
