Dehradun: In a tragic accident near the ONGC crossing early Tuesday morning, six people lost their lives when an Innova collided with a cargo truck.

The impact of the collision was so severe that the car was sent airborne for several meters, crushing the passengers instantly. One survivor was critically injured and rushed to a city hospital for treatment.

The scene of the accident brings nightmares. The victims are in the 20-25 age group that has shattered the families forever.

The victims were traveling in a Toyota Innova on drive  when it collided with a truck near ONGC Chowk at around 2 a.m. The deceased have been identified as Guneet Kumari (19), Navya Goyal (23), Kamakshi (20), Kunal Kukreja (23), Atul Agarwal (24), and Rishabh Jain (24).

The sole survivor, Siddhesh Agarwal (25), is currently hospitalized in critical condition.

Vipin Agarwal, father of the survivor Siddhesh, has lodged an FIR seeking clarity on the circumstances leading to the accident.

There are allegations of high-speed racing and possibly drunk driving, but the police have not confirmed these claims.

Vipin has urged the public to refrain from spreading misinformation and emphasized the need for a thorough investigation.

In response to this and other recent road incidents, Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami has called for stricter enforcement of traffic rules, including regular checks to prevent drunk driving and over-speeding, and the creation of a comprehensive road safety manual.

Meanwhile, the driver of the cargo truck has been detained by Dehradun police for further investigation.

This incident closely echoes a tragic accident from May on the Dehradun-Mussoorie road, where six students lost their lives in a similar crash.

SDC Foundation has sought immediate intervention from the CM Uttarakhand to make travel safe by taking some proactive measures.

Almora tragedy that killed 38 people recently in a bus accident only calls for immediate action, he urged by bringing all stakeholders on board.
