SHIMLA: In a swift turn of events, the Himachal Pradesh High Court today struck down the Parliamentary Secretary Act, declaring it “invalid and unconstitutional.
Without wasting time the state government sent the six CPSs packing back home from the HP secretariate today to avoid the wrath of the High Court.
This verdict led to the immediate removal of the six Chief Parliamentary Secretaries appointed by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu's government.
The Chief Secretary to Himachal Pradesh government didn’t waste any time.
He issued the office order right after the court’s decision, stating that, in line with the judgment in civil petitions 2023 (Satpal Singh Satti & others vs. State of Himachal Pradesh and Kalpana Devi & others), all office allotments and accommodations at the HP Secretariat for the now-dismissed Chief Parliamentary Secretaries and their staff have been rescinded effective immediately.
Six CPSs who packed their lock stock and barrel from the HP secretariate include Kishori Lal, Mohan Lal Brakta, Sanjay Awasthi, Ashish Butail, Sunder Singh Thakur and Ram Kumar.
The Chief Secretary's orders underscore the urgency, reinforcing that the court’s word is final, and the decks are clear.
