SHIMLA - In a bid to make Vyastah Parivartan, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and his State Government have announced the immediate suspension of the customary 'guard of honour' bestowed upon dignitaries during field visits.

This decision, effective until September 15, 2023, excluding Independence Day on August 15, comes as the state grapples with extensive relief and rescue operations following a recent disaster.

Chief Minister Sukhu, who issued the order, emphasized the urgent need to bolster police force presence in ongoing rescue efforts. Instead of engaging in ceremonial duties, the police personnel will exclusively focus their efforts on aiding those affected by the catastrophe. By prioritizing and streamlining state resources, the government aims to effectively address the aftermath of the disaster and provide immediate assistance to affected individuals.

The suspension of the 'guard of honour' highlights the state's commitment to promptly address the pressing needs of the disaster-stricken region. Chief Minister Sukhu affirmed that the decision underscores the government's dedication to efficient governance during this challenging time.

As relief and rescue operations continue unabated, the state government remains resolute in its mission to provide essential support to those affected by the recent disaster. The Chief Minister's bold decision showcases a proactive approach towards crisis management, ensuring that all available resources are directed towards the relief efforts.
