NEW DELHI/NAGOYA: After the women’s team struck gold earlier in the day, India’s men stole the limelight by defeating Iran 40-34 to clinch the kabaddi gold at the Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026.
India trailed 17-18 at half-time but staged a strong second-half comeback to overturn the deficit and retain the Asian Games title.
The victory completed a golden double for Indian kabaddi, with both the men’s and women’s teams defeating Iran in their respective finals.
The triumph also brought recognition to the Indian Army, with Havildar Devank, Havildar Rahul and Havildar Ankit making valuable contributions to India’s gold-medal campaign.
