Guwahati, Jan 23: The Enforcement Directorate (ED), Guwahati, conducted search operations on January 22 at the residences of Riju Prasad Sarma, former Administrator of the Kamakhya Debutter Board, along with those of late Dhiraj Sarma and late Naba Kanta Sarma, former officials of the now-defunct Debutter Board.

The searches were carried out under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002, in connection with the alleged misappropriation of funds by officials managing the Kamakhya Temple in Kamrup, Assam.

During the raids, the ED unearthed several incriminating documents and seized insurance policies valued at approximately Rs 1.82 crore. These findings have raised serious concerns about the financial management of the historic temple under the defunct board.

The investigation is ongoing, and the ED is likely to summon individuals linked to the case for further questioning.
