Take Back the Order and Ply HRTC Buses in the City as Earlier.
Shimla, Nov 2:
After HRTC and trade unions opposed the move, the Shimla Nagrik Sabha has sharply attacked the state government for restricting buses coming from beyond 40 km from entering the Old Bus Stand, calling it a “public-hostile order engineered by the private bus lobby.”
Sabha president Jagmohan Thakur and secretary Vivek Kashyap said the decision hits students, farmers, workers and suppliers from rural belts who depend on these buses daily.
“Stopping them 3–4 km short of the city only to benefit private operators is exploitation, not traffic management,” they said.
The Sabha said the real cause of jams is illegal parking, private buses stopping anywhere, and shortage of traffic police — not HRTC or rural buses.
They demanded immediate restoration of routes, stricter traffic enforcement, proper bus timetables and consultation with affected groups.
The Sabha warned of a signature campaign and protests if the order is not withdrawn.
