Heavy Rains to Batter Himachal Till August 15, IMD Issues Alert for Landslides, Flash Floods
Shimla, Aug 9 — The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall across Himachal Pradesh till August 15, raising the risk of landslides, flash floods, and traffic disruptions in several districts.
According to the Meteorological Centre, Shimla, the state saw normal monsoon activity in the past 24 hours, with light to moderate rain at most places and heavy rain at isolated locations.
The highest temperature was recorded in Bilaspur at 34.3°C, while Narkanda was the coldest at 13.2°C.
August 9 & 10 – Heavy rain with thunderstorms and lightning likely at isolated places in districts including Shimla, Solan, Sirmaur, Mandi, Kullu, Kangra, Hamirpur, Una, and Bilaspur.
August 11 to 14 – Heavy to very heavy rain expected at isolated spots, especially in mid-hill and low-hill districts.
August 15 – Heavy rain likely at isolated High-Risk Days (Aug 11–14): Parts of Kangra, Sirmaur, Mandi, and Kullu may see very heavy rainfall.
Low Hills/Plains – Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, and some parts of Kangra and Sirmaur on alert for possible waterlogging and flash floods.
Mid Hills – Shimla, Solan, and Mandi could face traffic snarls, slippery roads, and damage to standing crops.

From August 11 onwards, IMD expects a slight drop in maximum temperatures by 2–3°C, but minimum temperatures will remain steady.
