Chamba, August 8: At least seven people were killed and 11 others injured when a private passenger bus met with a horrific accident near Chaluj Mor on the Tissa–Bairagarh road in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh on Saturday morning.
The bus was carrying passengers when the accident occurred, highlighting once again the deadly risks faced by commuters on Himachal Pradesh’s mountainous roads, particularly during the monsoon.
All the injured were evacuated and shifted to Chamba Medical College for treatment. They were reported to be stable but serious.
The accident has once again raised concerns over road safety in the hill state, where monsoon conditions frequently turn roads into death traps. Landslides, falling rocks, road subsidence and slippery stretches pose a major threat to motorists and public transport, especially on remote mountain routes.
The accident comes as Himachal Pradesh continues to witness fatal road crashes during the monsoon, underscoring the urgent need for stronger road-safety measures and safer mountain transport system.
